Differential expression of GC-C, GN, and ion transport genes in the distal colon of naïve and infected mice. While GC-C expression was slightly increased at 10 p.i., GN was substantially decreased in GC-C+/+ mice and to an even greater degree in GC-C−/− animals at both day 4 and day 10 p.i. In both genotypes, CFTR expression was elevated while NHE3 was unchanged. Fold change values are relative to naive GC-C+/+ gut. Solid line represents median value.
