Analysis of liver steatosis. (A) Oil-red O staining (red color) shows lipid deposits in liver samples. At both 10 and 48 weeks, macrovesicular steatosis was visible in iNOS+/+/HFD mice and microvesicular steatosis was visible in iNOS−/−/HFD mice. Scale bar, 200 μm. (B) Liver TG content was significantly higher in iNOS+/+/HFD mice than in iNOS−/−/HFD mice at both 10 and 48 weeks. (Data are expressed as the mean ± SEM. *p < 0.05, represents significant difference between iNOS+/+/HFD mice and iNOS−/−/HFD mice).
